LAKE FOREST, Calif. – official release — After competing in the first five events of the GT Daytona class in the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport entry of Henrique Cisneros and Kuba Giermaziak is withdrawing from the series for the remainder of the 2014 racing season, with the exception of the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, Texas in September.
The decision to not compete in five of the final six races on this season’s IMSA TUDOR Championship schedule is due to business obligations of MOMO Partner and MOMO NGT gentleman driver, Henrique Cisneros. The No. 30 Porsche 911 GT America (Type 991) piloted by Cisneros and Giermaziak is confirmed to still race at the Circuit of the Americas in mid-September for the Lone Star Le Mans, a race weekend that will feature both the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
“Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions and this is one of those times for me,” said Cisneros. “Racing is such a joy in my life, however at this current time I need to focus on business and family. Turmoil in my home country of Venezuela is affecting both of these and that needs to be the center of my attention right now.
“I love racing and hate to step out of it and leave my teammates, Kuba and Christina, and Ramez (NGT team owner) on the sidelines for most of the rest of the year, but it is what I must do. I look forward to the race in Austin in September and hope things improve in Venezuela and I can return to racing regularly.”
MOMO NGT Motorsport has seen success in sportscar racing for many years, most recently finishing third in the 2013 American Le Mans Series GT Challenge (GTC) team championship and earning a third place finish for Henrique Cisneros in the driver’s championship that same season. The Miami-based team has also achieved a best finish of sixth in the ultra competitive GTD class of the IMSA series this season, with that accomplishment earned last month at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen with MOMO NGT drivers Kuba Giermaziak and Christina Nielsen.
Eduardo Cisneros, Henrique’s brother, will continue to compete in the No. 29 MOMO NGT GT3 Porsche 911 in the IMSA GT3 Cup Championship.
