KALAMAZOO, Mich. – staff report — Speed51 photo — Terry Senneker drove to his third straight and fourth overall victory in the annual Kalamazoo Klash for outlaw super late models Wednesday evening, holding off Brian Bergakker in the final 50-lap segment to score the victory and a $10,000 payday.
The win tied Senneker with 12-time track champion Andy Bozell for the most victories in the nation’s most prestigious Outlaw Super Late Model event.
The race was broken down into three 50 lap segments and Senneker saved the best for the final segment. Bergakker was the leader following the conclusion of the second segment, but at the start of the third segment Senneker jumped into the lead at the three-eighths-mile asphalt oval.
Once in front Senneker drove to a 3.38-second victory over Bergakker.
J.R. Roahrig was third, followed by Steve Needles and Tom Thomas. Jeff Ganus, who last week won the annual New Paris Summer Sizzler in Indiana, was the leader at the end of the first segment and finished eighth.
Kyle Busch, who earlier in the night won the ARCA/CRA Super Series 100-lap event, made his debut in the Kalamazoo Klash. He fell out of the race early after his car began leaking fluid. He finished last in the 23-car field after completing just 30 laps.
