WEST LEBANON, NY — official release — Nepart photo — The Valley of Speed put to bed its 62nd Season with awarding the remaining High Point Championships for all its divisions as the rain ended the night early presented by DiCarlo’s Autobody.
Wayne Jelley captured the title in the Small Block Mods, while Jeff Watson outlasted the field to take the Sportsman title, and Al Relyea survived to take the Pure Stock Championship.
Under threatening skies, the racing at the high banks of Lebanon Valley Speedway got under way with everyone knowing that not only did it have a chance of getting wet, but more importantly, that it was the last night of racing and points for the season at the legendary ½ mile dirt oval.
The Pure Stocks got 2 features in the books, but the 3rd and final feature got only 6 laps in the books before the skies opened up, subsequently cancelling out the first two events, and finalizing the points based on last weeks completed finishes.
With that, Al Reyea captured the High Point Championship in the Pure Stock division.
The Budget Sportsman ran all their qualifying heat races to set the field for their 20 lap feature, but that race never made it to the high banks with the rain. With the race being postponed to opening night of the 2015 season, the points were locked down.
Returning veteran racer Jeff Watson captured the High Point Championship in the Sportsman division for 2014.
In the Small Block Modifieds, Wayne Jelley captured the High Point Championship after their feature was postponed as well to opening night of the 2015 season.
Congratulations to all the 2014 High Point Champions and their teams! For more information, complete points wrap ups and more, visit our website at www.LebanonValley.com and click on the ‘Speedway’ icon.
