STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Story by Race Chaser Online New England Correspondent Kyle Souza — Rich Schultz/Getty Images for NASCAR photo — With the 2014 Northeast racing season winding down, the Stafford Motor Speedway fires up one more time, with the annual NAPA Fall Finale on tap this weekend beginning on Friday and culminating Sunday with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 150-lapper.
The season finale will host a total of nine different divisions, with over 350 laps of green flag action on tap. The weekend will start with qualifying heats for all regular and invading Stafford divisions on Saturday, along with NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour time trials on Saturday afternoon.
Stafford will hold two twin 25-lap features for the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience as part of the Saturday night program. These drivers are experimental drivers, some of them involved in feature action behind the wheel of a stock car. These races showcase talented drivers who are searching for a ride for next season.
Saturday features will also be held for the Dare Stocks, Limited Late Models, Legends Cars and SK Lights classes, the weekly divisions from all season long at the track.
Sunday action will kick-off at 1 P.M, with the SK Modifieds holding a 40-lap feature to decide the championship. Ryan Preece comes into the event 10 points up on his closest challenger Ted Christopher, so this race will go right down to the wire and the final checkered flag of the season.
Also in competition on Sunday will be the track’s weekly Late Models for a 30-lap feature event. The 2014 Stafford season will conclude with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 150 at approximately 3:15 on Sunday.
