STAFFORD, Conn. – By Jason Cunningham, NASCAR — Andy Marlin/Getty Images for NASCAR — Neither Mother Nature or Father Time can slow down Bobby Santos in preparation for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour’s TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Santos had the fastest car in practice and qualifying on the original race date of May 23, and remained fastest in the second try at getting the event in on May 30. Both nights ended in rainouts before the Whelen Modified Tour hit the track, but in tonight’s third attempt little has changed on the track as Santos once again led the way.

Behind the wheel of the No. 44 Tinio Racing/ImperialCars.com Chevrolet, Santos paced the field with a fast lap of 18.271 seconds (98.517 mph) during the 30 minute session Friday evening at the historic half mile. Following three practices led and a Coors Light Pole since May 23, Santos will attempt to gain his seventh Whelen Modified Tour Stafford victory later tonight.

Rookie Tommy Barrett Jr. finished second on the speed chart at 18.299 (98.366) followed by 12-time Stafford winner Ted Christopher at 18.359 (98.045).

The remainder of the top 10 in Friday practice included: Patrick Emerling, Woody Pitkat, Donny Lia, Eric Goodale, Rowan Pennink, Ron Yuhas Jr. and Doug Coby.

Defending race winner Ryan Preece finished 13th.

The TSI Harley-Davidson 125 is set to go green at approximately 8:15 p.m.
