MOORESVILLE, N.C. – For the first time in almost 20 years, the long-time Oswego-based radio show Inside Groove will return in May as a weekly one-hour podcast focusing on Oswego Speedway and the supermodified division in general. The show’s original founder and host Tom Baker will once again be behind the mic for the reboot, produced from the Race Chaser Media studios in Mooresville, North Carolina. He will be joined by Oswego Speedway competitor and PR Director Camden Proud, and a rotating cast of guests from the division’s past and present.
“I am really excited to bring Inside Groove back, and to focus it on the supermodified division and the Oswego Speedway,” Baker said. “I started going to the races at Oswego in 1973 at the age of five, so I’ve been fortunate to have watched and been a part of over 45 years of history at the track. I owe everything in my career to those days and the love of the sport that was planted back then within me. At last year’s Classic, I found myself feeling like a kid again doing the interviews and reliving the past with drivers like Joe Gosek. The more I thought about it, the more it just seemed like the right time to provide a weekly show that focused not just on results but the people and the stories that have made the division great for decades. Those drivers in the 70’s were my heroes. We want to relive the history through the eyes of those who helped create it and of course talk with today’s heroes as well. It’s going to be about having a good time and celebrating the generations of drivers, team owners, tracks, series and fans that have built the division and made it into a community.”
It was contemplated whether or not to do a live show, and how long the show should run. Baker explains the final decisions on both topics. “The show will not be a live show. It will be recorded mid-week and available for download on Fridays. “There is going to be no pressure with this show to break news or provide detailed results of every race. You can get that content elsewhere. The focus is on bringing the supermodified community together and having a good time. We’re saying it will run for an hour, but if the conversation is flowing, we may fun some extra laps. I’m sure that will happen now and then depending on the guest.”
The show will feature audio of the Oswego winners each week and will have frequent guests from the division’s past and present. If audio is available from ISMA or from MSS winners, the show will incorporate that as well.
When the episode is ready for download, it will be available exclusively through the Spreaker App (available free for all devices), the Inside Groove Soundcloud, or on the Race Chaser Media website and social media. You will be able to sign up and receive it right in your email inbox, which will make you eligible for exclusive prizes and content throughout the year.”
The first show will be released on May 10th. For more information or to address any questions you may have, contact Tom Baker at .
