GASTONIA, NC – Carolina Speedway officials are proud to announce the details of the Inaugural King of the Carolinas event set for October 24-27, 2013. Over $60,000 in prize money will be on the line for the event.

“We are very excited about finally being able to announce the details of the KOC race,” said Carolina Speedway’s Clint Elkins. “This event has been several years in the planning and we are happy to offer the biggest grassroots race in the history of North or South Carolina racing. This is much more than a race, it’s an event that will continue to grow each year,” added Elkins.

The seven division event is sure to draw cars from all over the Southeast. Any track champion from tracks across NC/SC will receive a free entry fee into the event. All event champions will also receive a beautiful six foot tall trophy.

Carolina Workwear NDRA Late Models will compete for a $3,000 to win event, Roush Yates Late Models will run for $2,500 to win, Domino’s Pizza Street Stocks, Tilley Harley Davidson Renegades and Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinders will all pay $1,500 to win. The Front Wheel Drive division will battle for $1,000 to win. The Stock Car Steel/SRI Open Wheel Modifieds will race for at least $2,500 to win. Details on that event are still being worked out.

“We want to settle it on the track,” said Elkins. “The purses are very likely to go UP as we get closer to the event. We are encouraging other tracks to help promote this event so we can find out just who is the King of the Carolinas!”

The four day program is set up to ensure that race teams will only be required to be on hand for two days. Thursday October 24th will be an open practice session for all cars. After that the schedule shuffles different divisions in and out of the pit area over the course of the weekend.

Carolina Speedway is currently expanding the parking area to allow camping and additional parking. A post-race concert on Saturday night is planned along with other events that will make it a full weekend of racing and fun.

Entry forms, ticket prices and rules will be available in the coming weeks.
